Oracán 2023 is one of Hermanos Mesa Winery's most distinctive wines. It is produced exclusively from Listán Blanco grapes grown in the La Degollada vineyard, located in Los Pelados at 1,300 metres above sea level on poor volcanic soils.
The 60 to 70-year-old own-rooted vines are trained using the traditional Canarian pergola system, preserving the island's historic viticultural heritage.
After careful hand harvesting, fermentation takes place in clay amphorae using indigenous yeasts together with 100% of the grape skins for approximately two months. The wine then ages on its lees in the same vessel for another six months, occasionally developing a natural flor veil before being bottled unfiltered and unfined.
The result is a pale orange wine with aromas of honey, orange peel, ripe fruit and subtle mineral notes. The palate is fresh, textured, mineral and remarkably complex, faithfully reflecting the volcanic identity of the Valle de Güímar. Production is limited to only 825 numbered bottles.
